In an interesting exchange on Al Jazeera, Israeli government spokesman, Mark Regev, is questioned forcefully by a reporter in regards to the media building in Gaza that was hit twice by an IDF airstrike. The heated exchange brings to light that in addition to attacking rocket launching sites, the IDF also targets civilian infrastructure which as a result has been the cause for the mounting civilian death toll in the current operation, as well as ones in the past.
While it’s true that Hamas does conduct attacks in highly populated areas, putting civilians in the crossfire, the exchange seems to reveal that Israel’s method of “pinpoint strikes” is highly open to interpretation, even leaving journalists who are reporting on the ground in Gaza open to being targeted along with militants.
