An Iowa man who was convicted alongside his son for rioting at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, was arrested for allegedly using a cell phone to illegally record a woman as she was changing clothes at a tanning salon, SiouxlandProud reports.
Daryl Johnson, 52, of St. Ansgar was arrested on January 27th and charged with invasion of privacy. Johnson allegedly used a chair to position a cell phone on the 8-foot-tall dividing wall between two rooms at a tanning salon in Clear Lake.
Johnson was at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 with his son Daniel Johnson. He is among a group of Iowans who faced charges related to the riot, and was the first to plead guilty and be sentenced. In June, he was sentenced to 30 days in prison after entering a guilty plea. His son also was convicted and received four months in prison.
From the Des Moines Register: According to prosecutors, the two entered the Capitol through a shattered window and stayed in the building for nearly half an hour. At one point, the two were among a group of rioters who rushed a line of officers keeping another door to the building shut, forcing them aside and letting more members of the mob into the building. Both father and son were charged with misdemeanors for disorderly conduct and entering a restricted building as well as civil disorder, a felony.
