Kanye West will ‘take the pulpit’ at Joel Osteen’s Sunday service: ‘He’s all about a higher power now’

According to sources speaking to TMZ, rapper, born again Christian, and vocal Trump supporter Kanye West, will be making an appearance at prosperity gospel preacher and megachurch pastor Joel Osteen‘s Sunday service this weekend. West will reportedly “take the pulpit” and have a discussion with Osteen, and then will perform later that evening.

TMZ’s sources say West and Osteen have struck up a friendship and have been talking fairly regularly.

West’s appearance will take place at Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas.

“Kanye used to be about nothing greater than himself. Now it’s all about a higher power,” TMZ’s sources say.

The service will reportedly be broadcasted on SiriusXM.

Osteen is a controversial figure in Christian circles. As a proponent of the “prosperity gospel,” he has been criticized by hardline evangelicals for being unchristian, who say Osteen’s theology promotes the idea that God will reward donations to the church with wealth and prosperity.

A former version of this article mistakenly stated that Osteen’s church is in Lakewood, California. It has since been corrected.
