Law firm sues Madison Cawthorn for almost $200K in unpaid legal fees

An Indiana law firm is suing outgoing GOP congressman Madison Cawthorn for over $193,000 in unpaid legal fees for defense work the firm did in a case challenging Cawthorn’s eligibility to seek reelection, according to Courthouse News.

“Mr. Cawthorn served as a Congressman in the U.S. House of Representatives, is over 18 years of age, and at all times material to this matter was authorized under the laws of both North Carolina and Indiana to enter into legally enforceable contracts. Mr. Cawthorn signed the Agreement on his own behalf,” the complaint states.

“To date, Mr. Cawthorn has an outstanding, unpaid balance of $193,296.85, apart from any interest that is due and apart from any fees due for work on collecting overdue amounts, as provided under the terms of the Agreement,” the complaint reads.

According to JoeMyGod, lawyer James Bopp also represented Marjorie Taylor Greene in her own battle to remain on the ballot. “Bopp is currently representing an anti-abortion group in a lawsuit seeking to ban advertisements for so-called abortion pills,” JMG reports.
