In a recent speech to his supporters, North Carolina GOP Rep. Madison Cawthorn gave his thoughts on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose country is on the receiving end of a brutal invasion by Vladimir Putin’s Russia, WRAL reports.
In the video obtained by WRAL, Cawthorn says, “Remember that Zelenskyy is a thug.”
“Remember that the Ukrainian government is incredibly corrupt and is incredibly evil and has been pushing woke ideologies,” Cawthorn adds.
After WRAL shared the video, Cawthorn seemingly walked back his statements, writing on Twitter that Putin’s actions were “disgusting.”
“I am praying for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people,” he wrote.
