Man shot pregnant wife twice in the back of the head after she discovered he was cheating

An Alabama man will spend the rest of his life in prison after he was given a plea deal connection to the shooting death of his pregnant wife and their unborn son, the Miami Herald reported.

Hunter Tatum, 26, pleaded guilty to two counts of murder on June 21, according to Autauga County District Attorney CJ Robinson. The state was initially seeking the death penalty. Now, Tatum will serve two consecutive life sentences for the murder of his wife Summer and their son Everett.

Prosecutors say on Oct. 18, Summer found out that Tatum was having an affair with a woman he met online. As the two argued, she destroyed his video gaming console.

Summer could be heard begging for her life in audio that was captured by a home surveillance camera, saying, “Please! Please! Please! I’ll stay! I’ll do anything! Please don’t kill me!”

Tatum’s defense claimed that he shot her when she grabbed a gun and he tried to take it away. But evidence provided in during the trial show Summer was shot twice in the back of the head.

When he was rushed to the hospital, doctors delivered her 5-month-old son but he died five hours later.
