Man who knocked out woman while dressed as Spider Man in viral video is sentenced to over 6 years in prison

A man who was seen in a viral video kicking and punching a female supermarket worker and knocking her unconscious while dressed in a Spider Man costume has been jailed, the Daily Mail reported.

Josh McDonald, 33, was among a group of people taking part in a ‘juvenile idiotic stunt’ on July 22, 2021, which saw a group ‘superheroes’ wreak havoc at an Asda supermarket in Clapham Junction, south London.

News reports found out that McDonald is a kickboxing expert who has a history of high-level competition.

The worker, Lauren Scott, suffered a fractured eye socket and bruising to her face as a result of the incident.

Speaking to the Kingston Crown Court, Scott said she was left ‘feeling vulnerable’ after the attack and was unable to leave her house “because she was exhausted and embarrassed” by her injuries.

McDonald reportedly admitted guilt to the charges and was sentenced to six years six months, and will be monitored for three years and six months after he’s released due to being a danger to the public “with problematic attitudes to masculinity.”
