Megachurch pastor: The effort to impeach Trump is actually an effort to impeach Christian values

During an appearance on the Fox Business Network this week, megachurch pastor and spiritual adviser to President Trump, Robert Jeffress, took a moment to regurgitate the evangelical delusion that Trump has “values” that he “embraces.”

Filling in for Lou Dobbs on Lou Dobbs Tonight, host David Asman asked Jeffress for his thoughts on the current impeachment effort against Trump, which Jeffress characterized as a “sham.”

“Evangelical pastors like yourself have influence over millions of parishioners,” Asman said. “I’m just wondering that when the time comes … are you going to preach from the pulpit that your members should go out and lobby for the President?”

“Look, we’re going to talk about lobbying for those values that the President embraces,” Jeffress replied. “And you know, Tuesday, David, when we met with the President, one of the things we talked about was that 99 percent — a recent poll showed 99 percent of evangelical Republicans oppose impeachment, and the reason for that is very clear: never in the history of America have we had a president who was a stronger warrior for the Judeo Christian principles upon which this nation was founded than in President Donald J. Trump.”

“And evangelicals understand that the effort to impeach President Trump is really an effort to impeach our own deeply-held faith values, and we’re not going to allow that to happen,” Jeffress added. “That’s why you’re getting such pushback to impeachment from his evangelical base.”
