Muslim Americans took to Twitter following Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz‘s call for police to monitor “Muslim neighborhoods” nationwide, showing the Texas Senator what their neighborhoods actually look like.
Responding to Tuesday’s ISIS terror attacks in Brussels, Cruz said he’ll use law enforcement to “patrol and secure Muslim neighborhoods before they become radicalized.”
Cruz refused to give specifics on how he would compel police to implement his proposal, nor did he even know how many Muslims there are in the US.
However since his statement, PBS reports that some Muslim Americans have been tweeting pictures of their own neighborhoods using the hashtag #MuslimNeighborhood to show the Texas Senator that there is no difference between a “Muslim neighborhood” and an American one.

My current #muslimneighborhood status: my Muslim neighbor is walking a dog. An English bulldog. She scooped. Will update as events unfold.
