Neil deGrasse Tyson just got his own late night talk show

Your favorite astrophysicist and host of the beloved “Cosmos” series will get an opportunity to host his own late-night talk show this spring – on the National Geographic Channel.

Neil deGrasse Tyson has made quite a name for himself while appearing on other people’s talk shows. But even though he was usually a guest, Tyson tends to take the driver’s seat in most interviews. Now, his widely-revered podcast “Star Talk” will be taped in front of a live audience at the American Museum of Natural History’s Hayden Planetarium in New York City.

The first taping is scheduled for sometime in April.

“Cosmos allowed us to share the awesome power of the universe with a global audience in ways that we never thought possible,” Tyson said in a statement. “To be able to continue to spread wonder and excitement through Star Talk, which is a true passion project for me, is beyond exciting. And National Geographic Channel is the perfect home as we continue to explore the universe.”

We all know how cutthroat the world of entertainment is, and it’s no secret that the good doctor will be up against quite a challenge. But we have a hunch that his first few episodes will be massively watched. Where it goes from there, time will only tell.
