Here’s a recording of Richard Nixon telling Ronald Reagan that he has a hot wife

This August, the last remaining Oval Office tapes recorded during the Nixon Administration were released to public. Among them was a conversation between Nixon and then-California Governor Ronald Reagan on April 30, 1973, the night of Nixon’s infamous television broadcast detailing the revelations of the Watergate Hotel break-in.

As Mediaite points out, many have speculated that Nixon may have been slightly inebriated during the conversation, slurring his words at times, and even jokingly asking Reagan, “How’d you ever manage to marry such a pretty girl?”

During the call, Reagan reassured the embattled president that he supported him, saying, “We’re still behind you out here.”

“Each of us is a different religion,” Nixon replied. “But God dammit Ron, we have got to build peace in the world. And that’s what I’m working on.”
