New York millionaire’s son caught on video abusing Uber driver: ‘You little minimum wage f*ggot’

Jake Croman, son of New York Millionaire Stephen Croman, is under investigation by both the University of Michigan and Tau Kappa Epsilon, his fraternity, following the online posting of a video in which Croman verbally assaults Uber driver Artur Zawada.

The video opens with Croman demanding to know why Zawada repeatedly cancelled his request for a ride. Croman then launches into a profanity-laden tirade in which, among other things, he refers to the driver as a “minimum wage f*ggot.”

According to the New York Daily News, Croman alleged that the video shows his reaction to religious discrimination on the part of the driver, stating that Zawada had refused to drive him in the past because he is Jewish. Croman released an statement to this effect, claiming “I am not proud of my reaction to his discrimination and I regret my choice of words.”

“You’re canceling us again, why? For what? See they don’t give a sh*t about you. They don’t give two f*cks,” Croman says in the video. “There’s 50 of you. There’s one of me who spends the most money here, you little f*ck. Yeah, f*ck you, Arthur, you little faggot f*ck. You wanna kick me off? Kick me off, you little piece of sh*t. You’re an Uber driver, go f*cking drive you little f*ck. Minimum wage faggot, go f*ck yourself. See you later. Go pick up another f*ck. You working all day? Guess what? I’m going to go sit on my a** and watch TV. F*ck you.”

In a comment left on the video, Zawada claimed that he refused to drive Croman after having driven him three times in the past in which Croman and his friends repeatedly abused him. Further, Zawada alleges that Croman went out of his way to harass him, claiming that Croman had borrowed phones from friends in order to contact him.

Rick Fitzgerald, president of theUniversity of Michigan, released a statement describing Croman’s behavior as “reprehensible,” adding that the Dean of Students office has met with Croman, Zawada, and the other students featured in the video in their investigation of the incident. The University has announced plans to take action against the students pending the results of an official police inquiry.

Tau Kappa Epsilon is also conducting an investigation of the incident, and has Croman he may face dismissal from the fraternity.

Bad behavior seems to run in the Croman family, with Stephen Croman facing an investigation into his own actions after allegedly forcing tenants out of rent controlled apartments illegally.

[Update: 3/29/16] — It turns out that the Uber driver was fired. According to the Michigan Review, Mr. Zawada was fired by Uber as claims surfaced that other passengers had heard him making anti-semitic remarks. He has strongly denied the claims.

“It’s depressing and frustrating. I want them to take a lie detector test,” he said of the accusers, adding “It’s unfair because they have the resources.”

From the Michigan Review:

The Croman family certainly does have resources. Jake Croman is of course the son of New York multimillionaire and landlord Steven Croman, who is being investigated for usingharassment and illegal tactics to force out tenants. His page in the Eric Trump foundation has been taken down as well, and the cache deleted.

Zawada is an immigrant from Poland who has been in the United States for thirty years. He told the Review that he has no reason to be anti-Semitic, that he does not want to make this issue political. “Half the Jewish people who founded Israel,” he said, “were Polish citizens.”

“I have Jewish friends,” Zawada said. “I have professors I know at the University of Michigan who are Jewish. I worked for my boss and he was Jewish.”
