Oath Keeper who guarded Roger Stone on Jan 6 is slapped with over 4 years in prison

An Oath Keepers militia member who was part of a security detail for Roger Stone on Jan. 6, 2021, was sentenced this Thursday to over four years in prison, the Associated Press reported.

Roberto Minuta, who was captured on video guarding Stone just hours before the riot at the U.S. Capitol that day was among six Oath Keeper members who were convicted by a jury for seditious conspiracy.

Also sentenced on Thursday was an Arizona man named Edward Vallejo, who was convicted for his role in the same plot. Vallejo, a U.S. Army veteran, oversaw a “Quick Reaction Force” at a Virginia hotel that was prepared to deploy an arsenal of weapons into D.C. if needed, and will spend three years in prison.

U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta told Vallejo that he can’t conspire to “undo” the results of an election just because he didn’t like who won.

“It can’t be that dozens of judges got it wrong,” he said, referring to the judges who rejected legal challenges after the 2020 election brought by Trump and his allies. “If you believe in the system, if you believe in democracy, you take the good with the bad.”

Two other Oath Keepers, including founder Stewart Rhodes, were sentenced last week after being convicted of the same charge. Rhodes was sentenced to 18 years in prison which is the longest sentence that has been given to any Capitol rioter so far. Kelly Meggs, who led the group’s Florida chapter, was sentenced to 12 years.
