Oklahoma College Republicans chairman arrested and charged for committing sex acts with a child

The chairman for the Oklahoma College Republicans was arrested in Oklahoma City this Friday on charges related to sex acts with a minor, Tulsa World reports.

Jonathan Alberto Hernandez, 21, has been charged with sodomy and lewd or indecent proposals or acts to a child. His bail was set at $50,000.

Hernandez also worked as the campaign manager for GOP state superintendent candidate Ryan Walters.

“This is extremely disappointing and concerning,” Walters’ spokesperson Matt Langston told Tulsa World Friday. “Hernandez worked less than two weeks for the campaign in an outreach role, but he did not adequately meet our needs. His role was terminated swiftly based on lack of performance and the campaign’s needs.”

As Tulsa World points out, Hernandez’ social media accounts show photos of him with all of the state’s highest office holders and other current GOP lawmakers.
