Pelosi calls for criminal investigation of Paul Gosar

This Tuesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) called for a criminal and ethics investigation of Arizona GOP Rep. Paul Gosar, who recently posted a video of anime-style cartoon with his face and the face of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) superimposed onto characters’ heads — in which Gosar’s character seemingly slays AOC’s character with a sword.

From The Washington Post:

In a tweet, Pelosi urged House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to join in condemning the “horrific video” and supporting investigations by the House Ethics Committee and law enforcement.

Pelosi’s statement echoed one issued earlier by the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, which also called for an ethics investigation. Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) also weighed in on Tuesday, writing in blunt tweet: “What a disgusting video from a pathetic man.”

The post has sparked a wave of backlash from Gosar’s critics, who claim the video is a call for violence against the progressive lawmaker.

As of this writing, the video appears to have been deleted.
