Prosecutors charge Infowars host Owen Shroyer for rioting at the Capitol on Jan 6

Owen Shroyer, a host on Alex Jones’ Infowars network, has been charged for partaking in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, BuzzFeed News reports.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Washington D.C. charged Shroyer with illegally going into a restricted area on the Capitol grounds and disorderly conduct. Shroyer is seen in images standing on stage at the “Stop the Steal” rally on Jan. 6 alongside Jones. An anonymous tipster informed the FBI that Shroyer appeared in video showing him at the top of a flight of stairs on the east side of the Capitol.

In one video cited by prosecutors, Shroyer is seen at a rally in downtown D.C. on Jan. 5 telling a crowd that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump.

“Americans are ready to fight. We’re not exactly sure what that’s going to look like perhaps in a couple of weeks if we can’t stop this certification of the fraudulent election,” prosecutors quoted Shroyer as saying.

In another video from Jan. 6, Shroyer is seen marching to the Capitol with Jones while addressing the crowd, saying, “today we march for the Capitol because on this historic January 6, 2021, we have to let our Congressmen and women know, and we have to let Mike Pence know, they stole the election, we know they stole it, and we aren’t going to accept it!”

This Friday, Shroyer commented on air about the charges on his show War Room with Owen Shroyer.

“A couple hours ago, I was informed by my attorney that there is a warrant out for my arrest with allegations involving Jan. 6, and I will have to turn myself in Monday morning,” he said.

“There’s a lot of questions, some I have answers to, some I don’t. I’m not going to be getting into more of this today on the air,” he added. “And I plan on declaring innocence of these charges because I am.”
