‘QAnon Shaman’ is willing to testify against Trump at his impeachment trial

The lawyer for accused Capitol rioter Jacob Chansley says his client is willing to testify as a witness in former President Trump’s upcoming impeachment trial, Law&Crime reports.

Chansley, who was photographed inside the Capitol on Jan. 6 wearing animal fur and bull horns, has been dubbed the “QAnon Shaman” by the internet in the wake of the breaching of the U.S. Capitol by a pro-Trump mob, some of them inspired by conspiracy theories espoused by the QAnon cult.

Chansley, a.k.a. Jake Angeli, 33, was “horrendously smitten” by Trump, lawyer Al Watkins told the Associated Press.

“He felt like he was betrayed by the president,” Watkins added.

According to Law&Crime, Watkins’ defense strategy is “not unlike that of a criminal defense attorney who seeks leniency for a client after the client testifies truthfully and favorably against other alleged conspirators in a criminal case.”

As of yet, no senators have taken up the offer to have Chansley testify.
