‘QAnon Shaman’ speaks after his release from custody: I now plan to ‘spread the truth’ with ‘Christlike forgiveness’

Jacob Chansley, the man who illegally entered the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, shirtless while wearing a bull-horned fur hat and carrying an American flag pole, was released from a halfway house this Thursday, ending his time in custody.

Chansley’s attorney, Albert Watkins, said in a statement that his client is “now appropriately free to continue in his peaceful quest to heal.”

In a video posted this week, Chansley, also dubbed the “QAnon Shaman,” issued a video statement saying that he’s following “Christ’s example” and has no “animosity or hatred towards the United States federal government.”

“And I have forgiven my captors, and I pray for them,” he continued. “Because that it what Christ would do.”

He says he now plans to use “the power of patience and peace” to “spread the truth” in “the spirit of a Christlike forgiveness.”

“Gandhi once said, ‘First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.’ So it seems I’ve already undergone the first three stages of this process,” he said. “Now, all there’s left to do is win.”

Chansley was released from federal prison in late March after being convicted of obstruction of an official proceeding in Nov. 2021. He was initially sentenced to 41 months in prison.

In an 2121 interview, Chansley said that his only intention by participating in the Capitol attack was to spread positivity.

“My actions were not an attack on this country. That is incorrect. That is inaccurate entirely,” he said.

“I sang a song,” Chansley said, describing his time inside the building. “And that’s part of shamanism. It’s about – creating positive vibrations in a sacred chamber. I also stopped people from stealing and vandalizing that sacred space, the Senate, okay?”
