Roger Stone fundraises for ‘God-fearing Christian man’ Alex Jones after $45 million Sandy Hook verdict

Former Trump adviser and confidant Roger Stone is calling for donations to support Infowars founder Alex Jones in the wake of a jury ruling that he must pay $45.2 million in damages to the family of a child killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting, Newsweek reports.

“Alex Jones is a good and decent man,” Stone said during an appearance on Infowars. “He is a God-fearing Christian…and right now he needs our support.” Stone added that contributions could be made through the Infowars store.

This Friday, a Texas jury ruled that Jones must pay $45.2 million in punitive damages, in addition to $4.1 million in compensatory damages to Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, the parents of a 6-year-old boy who was killed at Sandy Hook, for falsely claiming that the school shooting was staged by “crisis actors.” Jones must also pay an additional $1.5 million in fines.

“Neil and Scarlett are thrilled with the result and look forward to putting Mr. Jones’ money to good use,” the family’s lawyer Mark Bankston said in a statement. “Mr. Jones on the other hand will not sleep easy tonight. With punitive damages still to be decided and multiple additional defamation lawsuits pending, it is clear that Mr. Jones’ time on the American stage is finally coming to an end.”
