Sanders slams Trump on his failure to drain the swamp: ‘This guy is a fraud’

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) called President Donald Trump a “fraud” due to his misleading of American voters by failing to keep his promise to “drain the swamp” and instead helping Wall Street cronies.

“It is hard not to laugh to see President Trump alongside these Wall Street guys,” Sanders told CNN host Jake Tapper on Sunday. “I have to say this, Jake, and I don’t mean to be disrespectful. This guy is a fraud.”

During a Friday meeting with JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, Trump started an assault on Dodd-Frank financial regulations that were necessitated after the economic collapse of 2008.

“This guy ran for president of the United States and said, ‘I, Donald Trump, I’m going to take on Wall Street, these guys are getting away with murder.’ And then suddenly he appoints all these Wall Street billionaires, his major financial adviser comes from Goldman Sachs and now he’s going to dismantle legislation that protects consumers.”

Sanders continued his admonishment of the Trump administration.

“This is a guy who ran for president, saying, ‘I’m not going to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, and then he appoints all of these guys who are precisely going to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.”

Despite having harsh words concerning the administration, Sanders did concede to some of Trump’s strengths and possibly insight as to how the President was able to con American voters.

“[Trump] is a good showman, a good TV guy,” Sanders said. “But I think he’s going to sell out the middle class and the working class of this country.”
