School principal is shut down by students protesting bullied teen’s suicide: ‘We come to you and you ignore us!’

Students at Logan High School in Ohio protested this week in support of mental health awareness after one of their classmates committed suicide after being a victim of bullying.

WBNS reported that Brice Butcher, 15, went missing earlier this week and he was later found dead, according to his mother Karianna.

“Somebody just needs to listen because I don’t ever want another parent to have to feel this. And I don’t ever want to have a student, another kid to feel like they have no options, to feel like there is no other choice but to not exist,” Karianna said.

Video posted to the internet shows the school’s principle addressing the protesting students, trying to get them to end their protest and submit to her their concerns in written form. Needless to say, the students did not react well to her speech.

“We want you to know that we support your words and we hear you and we see you,” the principal says in the video. “We also want you guys to know that there are a lot of things that happen in private because they should be private, right?”

The principal goes on to say that there are “a lot of things that we could be doing more as a whole school to bring awareness to things, correct?”

“Like protest?” one of the student protesters responds.

“Where was this before?” another student protester says.

“All you’ve done is announce in the announcements that they’re dead,” says another.

Other students began to speak up, cutting off the principal’s speech. “That’s all you’ve done!” a student can be heard saying.

“You just ignored them,” another student says, presumably referring to past warnings about bullying at the school.

The principal then continued, telling the students to “use your voice” and give their ideas to her directly.

“We do!” another interrupted. “We do, and you don’t listen.”

“Everybody comes to you and nobody helps!” said another.
