Someone hired a mariachi band to play in front of Ted Cruz’s house

Video of a mariachi band outside the reported house of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is popping up around social media.

Local news reporter Miya Shay posted video of the band playing while a throng of protesters stood in the foreground holding signs.

“Some creative Houstonians hired a mariachi band to play outside Ted Cruz’s house this afternoon,” Shay wrote. “Apparently the whole neighborhood was out watching.”

Cruz is on the receiving end of a wave of criticism after he jetted off on a family trip to Cancun while his constituents froze in one of the worst winter storms Texans have seen. This Saturday, he was widely mocked for a series of photos he posted to Twitter showing him bringing bottles of water to storm victims — a series of photos that were seen as too little, too late.
