A Texas man who didn’t want his girlfriend to get an abortion has been jailed on a murder charge this Friday after he fatally shot her, NBC News reported.
An arrest warrant affidavit states that Gabriella Gonzalez, 26, got into confrontation with her boyfriend, 22-year-old Harold Thompson, on Wednesday when he tried to put her in a chokehold after she got back from Colorado where she went to get an abortion. According to the affidavit, it’s believed that Thompson was the father of the child and did not want Gonzalez to get the procedure done.
Police say security video from the parking lot shows Gonzalez “shrugs him off.” Thompson then pulls out a gun and shoots Gonzalez in the head and the two are walking. After she fell to the ground, he shot her multiple times and then ran away. Thompson was arrested Wednesday and is being held in the Dallas County Jail without bond.
The affidavit from March does not specifically name Gabriella Gonzalez as the victim. But it does say that Thompson, “beat her up multiple times throughout the entirety of their relationship" and that Thompson told police the woman was pregnant with his child at that time.”

Thompson had previously been charged with assault of a family member who accused him of choking her. While it’s not confirmed, it’s believed the family member was Gonzalez, since at the time the March arrest, Thompson told police the victim was pregnant with his child.
