‘The apple doesn’t fall far from the orange’: Jon Oliver warns against trusting Ivanka Trump

As Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner slowly push the Steve Bannon faction aside and gain more influence, some see the alleged power shift as a positive development in the Trump administration since Ivanka and Jared reportedly share more liberal values than their White House counterparts.

But according to Jon Oliver this Saturday night, liberals shouldn’t get too hopeful; we don’t even know enough to make an informed decision on the couple.

“Basically, if Trump is thinking about pressing a button labelled ‘Nuke Earth,’ they will, on behalf of all of us, guide his hand toward the button labelled ‘Maybe Don’t.'”

“Is Ivanka really the moderating influence that people claim?” Oliver asked. “And what is in Jared Kushner’s background that justifies such a gigantic White House portfolio?”

Oliver pointed out that there’s not really any proof that Ivanka disagrees with her father in any issue.

“So we should just give her credit when good stuff happens and then blame others when bad stuff happens,” the Comedy Central host said sarcastically.

“If [Jared and Ivanka] are the reason you are sleeping at night, you should probably still be awake.”
