The mistranslations on these foreign food packages will make you laugh and cry

The way we package our food an entire industry that’s been narrowed down to a science. Choosing the wrong name, or color, or logo can completely destroy a product.

Now, most of the silly names on these products are the result of translations fails – unless of course these companies are actually selling “Shrimp Flavored Crack” or “Only Puke” — but you’d think that since product packaging is such a dire affair, SOMEONE would do a little research into how these names translate to the English language.

Thankfully, for the sake of a good laugh, some of these folks didn’t get that memo.

The megapussi I guess would be funny if it weren’t for the fact that pussi is actually the Finnish word for bag. It’s not a mistranslation at all.. It isn’t even a translation.

The same goes for Finger Marie. Not a translation. Marie is the brand name of the biscuits and I since these biscuits are finger shaped they are named as such. It’s not the Dane’s fault that the Danish name of a biscuit becomes 3rd base when read in English.

Golden Gaytime is not a mistranslated item, it’s from a time when ‘gay’ still meant happy.

The package is from Canada, so they are apparently more mature there.

Sold in Canada as Marie Fingers……in both official Languages. Its American that does not translate properly I guess.

There’s actually a fungus called Jew’s ear, so that’s probably not a mistranslation either. I wonder if the “Shrimp Flavored Crack” is photoshopped, though.
