Trump campaign: Trump’s COVID diagnosis gives him a ‘firsthand experience’ edge over Biden

Speaking on Fox News’ America’s Newsroom, Trump campaign communications director Erin Perrine said that President Trump has an advantage against Joe Biden since he now has “firsthand experience” with coronavirus.

“Firsthand experience is always going to change how someone relates to something that’s been happening,” Perrine said.

“Of course that’s going to change the way that … he speaks of it, because it will be a firsthand experience,” she added.

“He has experience as commander-in-chief. He has experience as a businessman,” she continued. “He has experience now of fighting the coronavirus as an individual,” she said, adding, “Those firsthand experiences, Joe Biden, he doesn’t have those.”

“Those firsthand experiences are what are going to get President Trump four more years. So, of course he talks about it differently now that he has lived through it.”

Perrine’s comments sparked some mockery on social media, prompting her to take to Twitter and clarify herself.

“Clearly the point I was making is that first-hand experience changes the way any individual talks about or relates to something,” she wrote. “The President is no different.”
