Trump mocks John McCain for being a prisoner of war: ‘I like people that weren’t captured’

While speaking in Iowa today, Donald Trump managed to find a new way to prove that he’s nothing like the “patriot” he claims to be.

During a live CSPAN broadcast, Trump was talking about John McCain when the moderator mentioned the Arizona senator’s war hero status. Trump disagreed.

“He’s not a war hero,” Trump asserted. “I like people that weren’t captured. …He’s a war hero because he was captured – I like people who weren’t captured.”

McCain was shot down during a bombing mission over Hanoi in 1967, captured, and then spent the next 5 years in a tiger cage in the jungle. Trump dodged the war after graduating college in 1968.
