As opposition to the GOP’s “healthcare reform” plan heats up, House Speaker Paul Ryan put together a powerpoint presentation (see video excerpt above) during a news conference this Thursday morning in an effort to defend the plan, which many are now referring to as “Trumpcare.”
“The fatal conceit of Obamacare is that ‘we’re just gonna make everybody buy our health insurance at the federal government level, young and healthy people are gonna go into the market and pay for the older, sicker people,'” Ryan said. “So, the young healthy person is gonna be made to buy healthcare, and they’re gonna be made to pay for the person who gets breast cancer in her forties, or who gets heart disease in his fifties…”
Interesting take. As NBC’s Bradd Jeffy points out, “Isn’t that how employer-based insurance works?”
People are pissed, and some found a creative outlet for their frustration on Twitter:

It was awfully nice of @SpeakerRyan to walk us through his health care plan today. Much easier to understand now! pic.twitter.com/VTorYd5Ln7
