Twitter points out the hypocrisy of Ivanka Trump’s call to ‘honor our libraries’

This Thursday, Ivanka Trump tweeted out her support for National Library Week, which celebrates the positive role libraries play in society. But for almost every social cause the First Daughter endorses, the Internet can uncover an example of her father working against those causes.

One has to wonder how familiar Ivanka is with the President’s policy positions, considering that he wants to defund the federal agency that helps keep libraries funded. According to Inside Higher Ed, President Trump wants to “eliminate funding for the Institute of Museum and Library Services, which manages a host of grant programs. Crucially, the institute administers the Library Services and Technology Act, a program that libraries across the country depend on to fund their own services.”

Ivanka’s Thursday tweet read, “This , we honor our libraries and librarians for opening our eyes to the world of knowledge, learning and reading!”

But the Twitterverse immediately pointed out that her dad’s plan to slash library funding is an odd way to “honor our libraries.”
