Watch what happens when people get a little too rowdy at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

The people who were goofing off at this solemn place probably didn’t expect what happened next…

Here’s the perfect Memorial Day video, reminding us that the holiday is meant as a time of deep reflection, not just an excuse to fire up the barbecue.

At the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a few visitors were chuckling for some reason, forgetting that a level of respect and silence always expected.

The guard took notice of this, and decided to set them straight.

I’m pretty sure they’re trained to do that. I was there years ago when a little kid – a preschooler – ducked under the chain and started to walk out onto the memorial area. The guard snapped to face him, slapped his rifle to present arms and barked “Halt! (brief pause) Parents are requested to keep their children outside the barrier!” He stayed that way while the parents pulled back the kid, who had frozen in place, then said in a loud, clear voice “Thank you.” He then resumed his rounds.

    Simply. AWESOME. Good for him.
Those people seriously needed a slap in the face and learn some serious respect.
