A woman who was caught on video berating and coughing on an Uber driver after he asked her to wear a mask has turned herself in to the Miami Police Department on charges of identity theft, ABC7 reports.
Arna Kimiai, 25, is suspected of using fake identification to rent an apartment in Miami, a spokesperson for the Miami Police Department said. Kimiai turned herself in to authorities on Wednesday night after a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Kimiai faces charges of grand theft, organized scheme to defraud, and fraudulent use of personal information.
ABC7 spoke to a former neighbor of Kimiai’s in Los Angeles who now lives in San Francisco. The neighbor told police that Kimiai stole her identity and used her name to rent a penthouse apartment in Miami.
Kimiai made headlines in March of last year when Uber driver Subhakar Khadka, shared a security video of Kimiai and two other passengers assaulting him and coughing on him after he ended a ride because she refused to wear a mask.
After the went viral, Kimiai turned herself in and was charged with assault and attempted first-degree robbery and battery on a transit employee and a violation of a local health ordinance. That case is still ongoing.
