Zuckerberg calls out Musk for waffling on MMA fight: ‘He won’t confirm a date, then he says he needs surgery’

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is pretty much fed up with X (formerly Twitter) CEO Elon Musk, at least when it comes to their much-anticipated MMA fight.

As rumors of an impending MMA match between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg heat up, Musk announced that he may need to have surgery first if the match is going to take place.

While an actual event hasn’t been announced, the two tech billionaires have been playing up the potential match. The Sunday before he started making excuses, Musk said all proceeds from the match will go towards charity for veterans and would be livestreamed on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Zuckerberg, who has been training in MMA and jiu jitsu and who has already competed in jiu jitsu tournaments, ribbed Musk in a post, saying, “I’m ready today. I suggested Aug 26 when he first challenged, but he hasn’t confirmed.”

On Sunday, Musk said that the timing of a date for a match was still “in flux,” but added an excuse.

“I’m getting an MRI of my neck & upper back tomorrow,” Musk wrote. “May require surgery before the fight can happen. Will know this week.”

Now, Zuckerberg is convinced that Musk is all talk.

“I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity,” Zuckerberg wrote on his new Threads social media platform, referring to the president of the Las Vegas-based company Ultimate Fighting Championship.

“Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead,” Zuckerberg continued.

“If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously,” Zuckerberg concluded.
