Jimmy Kimmel shows how restaurants would function if they were run by anti-gay Christians

This past week, a California judge ruled in favor of a baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple. A Kern County Superior Judge ruled that bakery owner Cathy Miller can refuse to make wedding cakes for same-sex couples. Last year, Miller refused to make a cake for Mireya and Eileen Rodriguez-Del Rio last year, saying that baking the cake would go against her Christian beliefs.

Regardless of the judge’s ruling, many see Miller’s stance as just another example of Christian anti-gay bigotry. On his late-night show this Tuesday night, Jimmy Kimmel pointed out how Miller’s logic would go over in a restaurant setting.

According to the Friendly Atheist‘s Hement Mehta:

The sad thing is how not exaggerated that sketch is. If everyone acted like the Christian bigot baker, that is what dining would look like. We’re just fortunate that most business owners don’t let their religious beliefs dictate which customers they service. (Anti-discrimination laws help, too.)

It shouldn’t escape your notice, either, that these cases always seem to involve Christians using their religion to discriminate against other people. The case currently in front of the Supreme Court is no different. Conservative Christians in the U.S. are unique in their desire to hit people over the head with their holy book to avoid doing business with them. Anything to make LGBTQ people suffer a little more.
