In Houston Texas this week, two young children were sitting inside their parked car at a gas station, when a man opened the door to steal their mother’s purse.
That’s when 8 year-old Jose Alonso sprang into action and took matters into his own hands. Security footage shows Jose in a tug-of-war over the purse with the suspect. The man managed to snatch it way, but the 8 year-old wasn’t about to give up so easily.
“I was scared a little bit, but I told myself just go with it,” he said.
In the footage, Jose can be seen exiting the vehicle and chasing after the suspect — with only one shoe on. “I ran as fast as I can, so I reached in and grabbed my mom’s black wallet with her credit cards.”
The suspect escaped with only the mother’s purse and keys.
When asked why he took the risk, Jose’s reply was about as noble as it gets:
“My sister’s party was coming up and I wanted her to have her party, and I wanted my mom to get all of her stuff back.”
