Ashli Babbitt’s mother is arrested and charged after assaulting counter-protester at rally supporting Jan 6 defendants

The mother of deceased Jan. 6 rioter Ashli Babbitt was arrested this Tuesday after she assaulted a counter-protester at a rally in support of Jan. 6 defendants outside of the Washington, D.C. jail where many of them are incarcerated, The Daily Beast reported.

Micki Witthoeft was taken into custody and walked to a police van, according to The Beast’s account. The arrest comes one day after she was captured on video while engaged in a confrontation with a livestreamer known as “Anarchy Princess.”

According to video taken by journalist Ford Fischer, Anarchy Princess gave her the finger, and Witthoeft responded by grabbing her hand and then shoving her. As Anarchy Princess continued to taunt her and give her the finger, Witthoeft grabbed her megaphone, which was playing siren sounds, and threw it on the ground.

Police confirmed to The Beast that the arrest was in relation to Monday’s confrontation.

“58-year-old Michelle Witthoeft, of Spring Valley, CA, was arrested and charged with Simple Assault and Destruction of Property,” Hugh Carew, a D.C. Metropolitan Police Department Public Information Office, told The Beast.

Ashli Babbitt was shot and killed by a Capitol Police officer as she tried to jump through the doors to the Speaker’s Lobby inside the Capitol building on Jan. 6.
