A California man will be going to prison for the rest of his life for sexually molesting children in the late 1990s, The Fresno Bee reported.
A press release from the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office said Steven Brian Arey, who was found guilty in April on 20 counts of lewd acts with a child under the age of 14, was sentenced to 300 years in prison this Friday.
Each count carried the special allegations of “substantial sexual conduct” and being “committed against multiple victims.”
The victim was only identified as a boy between 7 and 13 years old at the time. Two more victims — females under the age of 13 — were assaulted between 1996 and 2001.
When he was arrested in 2019, Arey was working as a youth pastor for the California Department of Corrections in the city of Santa Clarita. Another man with ties to Arey’s church was also arrested for child molestation.
