GoFundMe for custodian killed in Covenant School shooting reaches almost $400K in less than a day

A GoFundMe for the school custodian who was killed in the shooting at Covenant School in Nashville had surpassed $380,000 in less than one day one the first day it was launched.

Mike Hill was one of the three faculty members who was killed that day, along with three children who were all 9-years-old when 28-year-old Audrey Hale shot her way into the school. Hill was killed when Hale blasted through the windows to make entry into the school.

As of this writing, Hill’s fundraiser has garnered almost $600,000. The GoFundMe was started “by fellow Nashville parents who live in the community who are dedicated to honoring this hero,” the page’s description says. It adds that Hill’s family “is aware of this fundraising effort and has been beyond moved by the outpouring of love.”

“Mike deserves to be remembered for his selfless act protecting our children,” the GoFundMe said. “His legacy can live on through goodwill and love. In the end, love should always win.”

The GoFundMe’s description says the money will be given to Hill’s family to pay for funeral services and expenses. Any money left over will be dedicated to “causes close to their hearts to facilitate healing in the Covenant and Nashville communities.”
