GOP lawmaker: No need for gun control because people in the Bible still killed without guns

This Thursday, the House approved two bills that seek to expand and strengthen background checks for people who purchase firearms.

While debating the measures this Wednesday on the House floor, Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) offered a strange argument against gun control measures, saying that they’re not needed since biblical figures didn’t need guns to murder each other.

According to Higgins, gun control measures are a “veil to conceal the violence of man born since Adam.”

“Do we recognize that the biblical record is replete with the violence of man?” Higgins said.

“First-born son of Adam killed his brother in a violent rage. I’m rather certain he did not use a firearm,” Higgins added.
