Government survey finds 1/3 of Americans used bleach and other cleaning products to prevent coronavirus

According to the results of a federal survey, one-third of respondents “engaged in non-recommended high-risk practices” involving bleach and household cleaners “with the intent of preventing” infection from coronavirus, The Daily Beast reports.

The Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, released this Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said people used “bleach on food products, applying household cleaning and disinfectant products to skin, and inhaling or ingesting cleaners and disinfectants.”

President Trump suggested during a coronavirus press briefing that the injection of cleaning agents could be researched as a possible cure for coronavirus. According to the report calls for public health authorities to educate the public about the dangers of misusing these products.
