#MerryChristmasStarbucks just got owned by #ItsJustACup

The latest “War on Christmas” hysteria is getting the ridicule it deserves.

People on Twitter are responding to the religious right’s claim that Starbucks is waging a red cup “war on Christmas” with the hashtag, #ItsJustACup.

Armed with a gun and a video camera last week, an Arizona-based ex- TV and radio evangelist, Joshua Feuerstein, claimed Starbucks hates the second amendment and is part of a left-wing conspiracy to destroy Christmas. Why? Because the plain red cup the coffee giant released for the Holidays does not contain the words Merry Christmas.

Feuerstein launched a viral hate campaign against the coffee giant on November 5th, ignoring the fact that Starbucks offers several blends of coffee with Christmas in the title and sells Advent Calendars.

Posting a bizarre video on Facebook, ranting about “Political Correctness” and wearing a Jesus Christ T-Shirt, Feuerstein bragged that he tricked a Starbucks Barista into writing the controversial words by saying his name was Merry Christmas. In a display of support for capitalism, he encouraged his followers to harass the corporation by tweeting out the hashtag #MerryChristmasStarbucks.

At the end of the video, the self proclaimed follower of peacenik Jesus Christ, brandished his handgun, claiming he was packing because Starbucks also hates the Second Amendment.  On his blog, Feuerstein describes his own philosophy as “biblical correctness” rather than “political correctness.”

Jeffrey Fields, the vice president of Starbucks design and content, announced the cup as a way for their customers to tell stories, using the cup as a canvass.

“In the past, we have told stories with our holiday cups designs,” said Fields. “This year we wanted to usher in the holidays with a purity of design that welcomes all of our stories.”

But Feuerstein is gonna Feurstein, and it looks like his latest stunt is getting the ridicule it deserves.
