NASA just released this beautiful ultra-HD video footage of the sun

NASA has released the latest entry in its series of Ultra High Definition space videos. One of the most jaw-droppingly beautiful videos is a 30-minute look at the sun in stunning 4K resolution.

The video gives a rare look into the star’s surface activity and captures solar flares and coronal loops. The activity looks absolutely beautiful, especially in the highly detailed slow motion.

The video was captured by the Solar Dynamics Observatory. The SDO is a highly advanced spacecraft that was launched in 2010 to observe the Sun. The SDO was launched in 2010, and can capture images in ten different wavelengths, which gives scientists a complete image of the sun that goes far beyond the limitations of the human eye.

The never-before-seen look at the Sun’s surface is the latest in a series of Ultra HD videos released by NASA in the last few weeks. Several weeks ago, NASA released a 4K look at Jupiter, taken by the Hubble telescope. NASA also previously released footage that the SDO captured of Venus passing by the Sun.
