In a preview for an upcoming interview with Fox & Friends, soon-to-be-former Energy Secretary, Rick Perry, echoed the pro-Trump Christian cult and declared the current President to be a man specifically anointed by God.
In the clip, Perry starts out by acknowledging that Donald Trump isn’t a perfect man, which is okay, because “God used imperfect people all through history.”
“King David wasn’t perfect, Saul wasn’t perfect, Solomon wasn’t perfect,” Perry said, comparing Trump to major figures in the Bible.
Perry went on to say that about a month ago, he gave Trump “a little one-pager on those Old Testament kings.”
“I shared it with him and said, ‘Mr. President, I know there are people that say you said you were the chosen one and I said, ‘You were,'” Perry continued. “I said, ‘If you’re a believing Christian, you understand God’s plan for the people who rule and judge over us on this planet in our government.'”
After the preview, Fox & Friends Weekend host Ed Henry pointed out that Perry also said former President Barack Obama was God’s chosen during his time.
“Lest people on the left attack Rick Perry, he pointed out to me, he believes Barack Obama was sent by God as well,” Henry said. “He said for that moment and for that time — he said he thinks for this moment and this time, Donald Trump was sent by God to do great things.”
