Roger Stone: ‘God himself’ gave Trump ‘the wisdom and courage to pardon me’

Speaking at the Save America Town Hall this Monday night, former Donald Trump confidant Roger Stone declared that the pardon he received from the former President was divinely inspired.

“Let’s be very clear,” Stone said. “God himself gave Donald Trump the strength and the courage and the wisdom to pardon me.”

“On the morning I was arrested—at 6:06 in the morning—the night before I’d fallen asleep reading the Bible,” Stone continued. “And when I heard the pounding on the door, I looked down, and the Bible was open to Psalms 16:8: ‘I will not be shaken.’”

In February of last year, Stone was sentenced to 40 months in prison after being convicted of lying to Congress and threatening a witness regarding his dealings with Trump’s 2016 campaign. In December of the same year, then-President Trump pardoned Stone, as well as former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and Charles Kushner, the father-in-law of Ivanka Trump.

“Pastors … and so many others told me to put my faith in God and that the Lord would deliver me,” Stone said on Monday. “And he has delivered me from my persecutors. Praise Jesus. All glory to God.”
