Trump on SCOTUS’ ruling to overturn Roe v Wade: ‘God made the decision’

In the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade, former President Donald Trump credited God with the ruling during an interview with Fox News, saying that the ruling will “work out for everybody.”

“This is following the Constitution, and giving rights back when they should have been given long ago,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News, later adding, “This brings everything back to the states where it has always belonged.”

When Trump was asked if he played any kind of role in facilitating the Court’s decision, Trump replied, “God made the decision.”

As Fox News points out, Trump appointed conservative Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court during his presidency, making the Court majority conservative, with Chief Justice John Roberts, Justice Samuel Alito, Justice Clarence Thomas, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett leaning right.

“We end this opinion where we began. Abortion presents a profound moral question. The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives,” Justice Samuel Alito wrote in the court’s opinion.
