Trump shut down his blog because people were making fun of it instead of reading it

Donald Trump has shut down the blog he launched last month, according to a statement from spokesman Jason Miller who said that “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump” has been permanently shut down, The Washington Post reports.

Trump launched the blog as a way to get his thoughts out after being banned from social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, but the blog failed to generate the traffic and engagement his tweets once did. According to an adviser who spoke with the Post, Trump wanted the blog shut down because his critics were mocking it and it was getting poor readership.

From The Washington Post:

Trump was banned from Facebook and Twitter shortly after he continued to use his social media pages to make false accusations about the 2020 presidential election. His social media accounts were often viewed as one of the main ways Trump encouraged his supporters to reject Joe Biden’s presidential win. And the accounts have been cited as a prominent tool for inciting the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol by a mob of Trump supporters that resulted in five deaths and injuries to 140 police officers.
