Woman who went on racist rant against pizzeria owner for having Spanish language TV on is charged with a hate crime

A Philadelphia woman who was caught on video going on a racist rant against a pizzeria owner because the TV was tuned into a Spanish-language station has been charged with a hate crime, according to a press release from Hatboro Police Department.

Rita Bellew, 55, was charged with misdemeanor counts of ethnic intimidation and harassment.

The video shows Bellew berating one of the owners of Amy’s Family Pizzeria for playing the channel in his restaurant. “You’re in America. You’re Supposed to Learn English,” Bellew said.

Bellew went on to accuse the owner of being undocumented, saying, “I will look you the f— up and get you the f— out of our town. I’m not giving my money to some illegal immigrant.”

She then demands a refund. “Believe me, I will check it. I’m a CPA, a certified public accountant and you probably don’t even know what that means, do you?”

Bellew then turned her attention toward the person recording her, saying, “They’re videotaping me because I’m white, see them? They’re calling me racist because I’m white. I’m not racist.”
