Coming off a week of comedian Whoopi Goldberg using her platform on The View to passionately defend Bill Cosby from what is now over 50 rape allegations from different women – even after it was revealed that Cosby admitted to obtaining drugs to be used for women he wanted to have sex with – John Oliver put together an eye-opening clip proving that Whoopi has quite a long history of defending the questionable behavior of certain celebrities.
The segment, titled “Whoopi Goldberg Defends Ten Surprising Things,” Oliver found examples of the comedian defending Roman Polanski, who is another accused rapist, Chris Brown and Ray Rice who both viciously beat their significant others, and the famously anti-Semitic Mel Gibson, who she claimed to know is “not a racist.”
And just for kicks, the clip mentions how Whoopi isn’t quite sure that the moon landing was real.
