Christian radio host: The ‘good’ thing about coronavirus is it will protect children from drag queens

Coronavirus might be spreading across the globe, but extremist right-wing pastor Bryan Fischer sees a silver lining behind this deadly cloud: it’s keeping kids away from drag queens and “sexual deviancy” at local public schools.

“Closing public schools will protect vulnerable young children from force-fed indoctrination into the absurd and anti-science environmental agenda,” Fischer wrote in a column Wednesday titled The Good That Could Come From Coronavirus. “It will protect them from being brainwashed into normalizing sexual deviancy, gender confusion, and Drag Queen story hours. By forcing parents to home school their children at this time, big government nannies may discover that all they did was to give parents a chance to try home education and discover they liked it more than they thought.”

Fischer, as The Advocate points out, has equated LGBTQ people with Nazis and claims they are trying to oppress Christians. In his article, he claims that the ongoing quarantine will broaden the role of fathers and offer ‘more time for parents to instruct their children in the teaching and admonition of the Lord.” He also claims shutting down most activities in large cities is unnecessary. However, he thinks “coronavirus might create a fantastic once-in-a-generation opportunity to reverse some anti-family trends and move back toward the America we used to be.”
