Dr. Kelli Ward, the far-right conspiracy theorist who’s also the chairwoman of the Arizona Republican Party, wants her Twitter followers to do whatever they can to fool the media, including doing things like donning scrubs and personal protective equipment while attending “reopen” rallies, Talking Points Memo reports.

Images of healthcare workers bravely confronting anti-quarantine protesters at state capitols across the country quickly turned viral. Ward, a doctor of osteopathic medicine, has used the opportunity to falsely accuse the healthcare workers of being phonies, claiming in a tweet that “when they appeared at rallies they were actors playing parts.”

In a statement, the Arizona Democratic Party slammed Ward’s tweet.

“If anyone’s status as a healthcare professional should be questioned, it’s Dr. Kelli Ward’s, considering her unwillingness to promote the advice of health experts,” said Democratic Party spokesman Matt Grodsky. “Irresponsible, shameful tweets do nothing to help people afflicted with the virus or the health care heroes who are working to save lives.”

Arizona’s stay-at-home-order, implemented by Governor Doug Ducey, is set to expire April 30, but he is currently reviewing the order and may revise it.
