Ex-Chicago cop confronts police officers for failing to arrest Trump supporter who punched 69-year-old woman

A man claiming to be a 30-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department confronted police officers in Asheville, North Carolina this week because they failed to arrest Trump supporter who punched a 69-year-old woman in the face.

The woman was also reliant on an oxygen tank.

According to Shirley Teter, she was protesting outside of a Donald Trump rally at the U.S. Cellular Center when a man punched her in the jaw. Police later issued a warrant for the suspect, Thomas Vellanti Jr.

Video circulated online Wednesday of the aftermath of the incident, showing the former Chicago cop scolding Asheville police officers for failing to arrest Vellanti immediately, letting him get away.

“We did it right away, why don’t you?” the unidentified former officer said.

“You’re in Asheville!” an Asheville police officer shouted back. “We got it!”

“So what?” the ex-cop retorted. “Act like real police because you’re not right now.”

“You’re not police officers,” the ex-cop added. “We would have had that guy out of here 15 minutes ago.”

As the conversation got more heated, another officer intervened and calmed the situation.
